No shortage of beds, says Health Minister

Health Minister Kailesh Jagutpal has reacted to growing claims of an overwhelmed health system to reassure that “there has been, at no time, any shortage of beds.”

He has claimed to have taken note of Labour Party leader Dr Navin Ramgoolam to transform the Bruno Cheong Hospital and the Côte d’Or stadium into  COVID-19 treatment centres.

However, he has argued in Parliament that such a move could influence other services offered by hospitals. “This would represent a huge inconvenience for patients as well as those living near these two infrastructures.”

Jagutpal said his Preparedness Plan already provides for more beds if the health situation deteriorates.
