The Board of the Central Procurement Board is in the process of being reconstituted, acting Finance Minister Avinash Teeluck has revealed, while responding to a question by MMM MP Rajesh Bhagwan in Parliament.

The minister indicated that an ‘Integrity Committee’ has been set up, following a decision of the Board last September, to identify “compliance issues”, risks of fraud and corruption and to propose corrective measures.

The CEB has been under fire recently after its top executives were provisionally charged with corruption in connection with the St Louis thermal power plant redevelopment project.

According to the CEB website, the Board is currently made up of Radhakrishna Chellapermal (Chairperson), Jean Donat, Sohail Javed Ahlaq Ahmad Suhootoorah, Anandsing Acharuz, Zeenat Guness-Goolbar, Madhoochandra Lobind, Ken Arian, Toolsyraj Benydin, Jean Roland Fayolle, Mreedula Mungra and Vishwanath D. Jhummon.

The Board of the Utility company is appointed by the Government of the day.
