Mauritian Ambassador to Russia holds talks on new Consulate in Nigeria

The new consulate of Mauritius in Nigeria will be located in the Bayelsa state. This was reportedly disclosed by Mauritian Ambassador to Russia and President, All Africa Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Professor Chandan Jankee at the Bayelsa Economic, Business and Investment Summit.

Bayelsa State has one of the largest crude oil and natural gas deposits in Nigeria. Bayelsa is also said to have the longest coast line in Africa with green vegetation suitable for Agriculture.

Ambassador Jankee was quoted as saying that the commitment of Bayelsa government to SMEs development had triggered his request for approval from the Mauritian government.

Media reports did not mention if other Mauritian government or diplomatic officials were present in the discussions.

Last month, youth organisations expressed concern over the rising cases of kidnapping and other violent crimes in Bayelsa, urging the state government to summon an enlarge security summit involving all stakeholders to address the menace.
