Ministry of Commerce’s Permanent Secretary passes away

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Protection, Jaganathan Parasivam Rangan, passed away early Wednesday morning.

According to media reports, he was suffered several health problems and had been admitted to a healthcare facility for two weeks.

Rangan has been a staunch defender of the actions of his Ministry and those of the State Trading Corporation (STC) even if they have often been controversial ones.

He was formerly PS of the Ministry of Local Government and Disaster Risk Management and of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
