Battle of words and denunciations escalate between PM and ex-CEO of MT

The battle of denunciations between PM Pravind Jugnauth and the ex-CEO of Mauritius Telecom, Sherry Singh, is escalating.

Jugnauth has claimed that his questions addressed to Singh on the latter’s company, Richmont Capital, “is nothing compared to what I’m going to reveal in the coming days.

The company generated a profit of Rs13.8million in 2018.

A day earlier, Jugnauth had questionned the company’s turnover between 2009 and 2015 and from 2015, when Sherry Singh became CEO of Mauritius Telecom.

Singh had reacted to the attacks: “The reason as to why Richmont Capital’s turnover increased was that Mrs Kobita Jugnauth started business in property development in 2015,” he retorted in a statement to the media.

“One of the first properties we bought belonged to his (Jugnauth’s) wife and his brother-in-law. It was a transaction of around Rs20million for a building located in Rose-Hill.”

Singh has invited the PM to a face-to-face.
