Mauritius Telecom's consultants sacked over proximity with ex-CEO

Mauritius Telecom has reportedly terminated the contract of its CSR Consultant – the first casualty of an internal audit triggered by the new management.

According to a report by Defi Media, the said consultant (whose name was retained) was a former Administrative Officer who retired in April 2019. He is said to have eventually been appointed as Consultant by MT’s ex-CEO Sherry Singh.

A few months ago, he travelled to Germany, accompanied by two other colleagues, to buy equipment for MUGA – MT’s outdoor gymnasiums.

The trip, according to Defi Media, cost Rs 1.5 million.

However, the sports equipment were finally purchased from China.

The contracts of the other two consultants were also terminated.

All three were allegedly close to the ex-CEO of MT.
