Australian envoy bids farewell to Mauritius

Dr Kate O’Shaughnessy, who has been serving as Australia’s High Commissioner to Mauritius for the last two years today has bid farewell after her tour of duty came to an end.

Hosting a farewell reception late this week, the outgoing Australian envoy said there are some 4,000 Mauritians who enrol with Australian universities annually.

These students contribute to enhance the breadth and depth of the bilateral relations, she added.

The event was attended by the President of the Republic Prithvirajsing Roopun; Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, Vice President of the Republic Eddy Boissézon, and other political personalities. 

Dr O’Shaughnessy, Australia’s 17th High Commissioner to Mauritius, is a career officer with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, arrived in Mauritius in August 2020.
