Crew of Mauritian oil tanker rescued off coast Reunion Island

During the evening of Thursday February 3, while Cyclone Batsirai was rocking the Indian Ocean, the Mauritian oil tanker Tresta Star, reportedly found itself in difficulty off coast Reunion Island.

According to l’Express newspaper, the 74-meter-long tanker, which was sailing empty near Saint-Philippe with 11 crew members, including Indians and Bangladeshis.

After a complex rescue operation led by fire fighters of Reunion Island that lasted 6 hours, the crew of the Mauritian vessel was finally rescued.

There is no reportedly no risk of any oil spill.
