Mauritius Trochetia

People in Rodrigues may now breathe a sigh of relief. The Mauritius Trochetia reportedly reached Port-Mathurin, Rodrigues, this Tuesday, January 25 with food products and especially fuel.

According to media reports, Rodrigues has been facing with a shortage of fuel, household gas and certain food products over several days.

All fuel service stations on the island had been closed except that of Port-Mathurin which was reportedly operational for essential services only.

Media reports claim the vessel Black Rhino, which was supposed to refuel the island last week and which was carrying 174 food containers, remained docked after five crew members were tested positive for COVID-19.

With the arrival of the Mauritius Trochetia, things are expected to get back to normal in Rodrigues as from Wednesday.

According to reports, nine police vehicles were also sent to the island to beef up the local police fleet in view of the upcoming regional elections.
