Mauritius President admitted in private hospital over Covid fears

The President of the Republic, Prithvirajsing Roopun, has reportedly been admitted at Wellkin Hospital this Wednesday.

Le Mauricien reported that a member of his family had been tested positive for COVID-19 last week, following which he went into self-isolation.

A communique from the State House on November 16 stated that “His Excellency Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, GCSK, President of the Republic, is temporarily unable to perform the functions of his office.”

Le Mauricien newspaper cited relatives on Wednesday as stating that the President Roopun was also tested positive. “The President of the Republic was subjected to several tests at midday… No information further information was available,” it reported.
