More oil leaks from the Wakashio wreck
The MV Wakashio wrecked off coast Mauritius in 2020, causing one of the most severe oil spills in the region.

The residents of the East Coast (living in the area of Pointe-D’Esny) and the authorities have reported that traces of heavy oil have been observed along the coastline.

According to the Ministry of Blue Economy, Marine Resources, Fisheries and Shipping, the oil is said to “be in minimal amounts” and subsequent to the salvaging works of the MV Wakashio.

A team from Polyeco Ltd was reportedly called in and all the oil was collected and removed with the help of booms and other equipment.
