Protest outside COVID facility against reopening of borders

A group of people gathered outside a COVID care facility in Rodrigues to protest against the reopening of borders.

“We’re not ready to welcome people in quarantine,” Le Mauricien quoted protesters as claiming.

The demonstration reportedly follows an incident where a ten-year-old child had an epileptic fit while he was placed in quarantine at the Mont-Lubin Quarantine Centre together with his mother.

Relatives of the child deplored the conditions in which the Mont-Lubin center is maintained.

They argued that the place is not conducive to proper COVID-care.

They also claimed that the centre is not equipped with adequate bathrooms and sanitary facilities.
