Gatwick and Heathrow: Latest travel rules for Brits entering Mauritius

The UK’s new travel system categorises countries into just two lists – red and the rest of the world.

Heathrow and Gatwick airport bosses welcomed the changes, with the latter describing it as a “significant and welcome step towards recovery”.

The Mauritian borders re-opened on October 1, but some restrictions remain in place for unvaccinated travellers.

If you are fully vaccinated, you will be free to explore the island as long as you present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure. And, you will be required to test on arrival, day zero, and on day five of your stay.

Those who are unvaccinated must quarantine on arrival. They must also present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure.

The quarantine will mean staying in a hotel room for 14 nights where you must PCR test on arrival, day seven and on day 14. After a day 14 negative test you would be free to explore the island.

Both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers must arrange COVID-19 insurance health cover to enter Mauritius.
