Ex-MCB executive sues ICAC for Rs50million over 'arbitrary arrest'

The former Deputy General Manager of the MCB Group, Philippe Alain Forget, is reportedly suing the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) for Rs50million.

Forget was arrested on June 23, 2003 in connection with an alleged fraudulent transfer of Rs 881.6 million from the account of the National Pensions Fund held at the MCB.

He claimed that his arrest was “arbitrary” and is claiming Rs50million as damages from ICAC boss, Navin Beekarry, the then Commissioner of Police and two former officials of the anti-graft body.

The case has been adjourned to February next year.

Philippe A. Forget is today a director of La Sentinelle Media Group, which publishes Business Magazine, l’Express amongst others.
