National airline appoints Head of Civil Service as new Chairman

The Board of Air Mauritius Ltd has elected Mr Nayen Koomar Ballah as Chairman of the Board.

Ballah was a Director of the Board of Air Mauritius from November 10, 2016 to December 12, 2019.

He was appointed Secretary for Home Affairs on January 1, 2015 and Secretary to Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service on September 16, 2016 – a position he still holds.

This is not Ballah’s first high-profile appointment: He is also currently the Chairperson of Mauritius Telecom, the Mauritius Revenue Authority, Multi-Carrier (Mauritius) Ltd, the Metro Express Ltd and Director on the Board of Mauritius Duty Free Paradise Co Ltd.

Earlier, ex-Senior advisor to the PMO Ken Arian, was appointed as the CEO of Airport Holdings Ltd, the Financial Secretary Dev Manraj was named as the new Chairman and two permanent secretaries at the PMO, Mrs Anandee Pawan and Satydanand Aujeet were appointed as members of the board.
