SMEs have bagged Rs12.45Billion from commercial banks

SMEs received credit facilities amounting to Rs12.45 Billion from commercial banks from 01 December 2011 to 31 July 2021, according to latest figures on SME Financing Scheme published by the Bank of Mauritius.

The support includes loans, overdraft, finance lease and others schemes.

The top five lenders were MCB (Rs5.77Billion), SBM (Rs2.5Billion), Maubank (Rs1.08Billion), Absa Mauritius (Rs1.06Billion) and HSBC (Rs414Million).

Data showed the local commercial banks received some 8,406 applications for a total amount of Rs15Billion, out of which 306 applications for Rs591Million were rejected.
