No face-mask, you pay

Those found not wearing a face-mask or wearing one without properly covering the nose and the mouth in a public area will be liable to Rs2,000 fine.

Defi Media reported that ‘fixed penalties’ will be enforceable as part of the COVID-19 regulations – no particular date has been announced.

The fines are roped in the Finance Act 2021, which was published in the Government Gazette on August 5.
