Court issues 'Attachment Order' on ex-politician's bank accounts

Ex-Labour Minister Siddick Chady will have to repay Rs 918,240.49 to MauBank, after the latter was granted a Supreme Court attachment order on the former politician’s bank accounts.

The story goes that Chady did not repay the full amount of a loan of Rs 1.4 million in 2011 from the now defunct Mauritius Post and Cooperative Bank Ltd (MPCB).

MauBank considered the recovery of the amount owed by the former minister and his son, who had guaranteed the loan as being “uncertain and compromised by their behaviour and financial situation.”
