Former employees of the Rossana and Tara Textiles companies are shocked that, some after working for the two companies (into administration), have received a severance allowance of only Rs14,000.

Over 200 workers were reportedly expecting “decent severance allowances” after they were made redundant, l’Express reported.

Trade unionist Fayzal Ally Beegun criticized accounting firm BDO for the quantum offered to the employees. “These people expected fair compensation, but not Rs14,000,” he said.

In the event their “voices are not heard”, the ex-employees of the two companies intend to take to the streets.

“We’ll protest in front of the Government House and in front of the Ministry of Labour.”
