Jockey arrested for breach of Quarantine Act

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Port-Louis Nord arrested jockey Rye Joorawon for failure to wear a face mask and

not respecting social distancing at the funeral of jockey Nooresh Juglall on Sunday May 16, the day after the latter’s fatal fall at Champ-de-Mars.

According to Defi Media, he appeared before the District Court of Port Louis where he was provisionally charged with “Breach of Quarantine Act” but was eventually let free.

Several jockeys and people who attended the event could also be charged soon.
