Opposition MPs expelled from National Assembly (again)

Published

on

Opposition MPs Shakeel Mohamed and Patrick Assirvaden (both are Labour) were expelled (again) by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sooroojdev Phokeer on Tuesday.

Mohamed apparently reacted forcefully to criticisms by PM Pravind Jugnauth against Arvin Boolell (absent from the Assembly). “You want to go out?” the Speaker asked Mohamed.

Despite uttering “No” several times, Shakeel Mohamed was nonetheless expelled.

Patrick Assirvaden, who tried to defend his party comrade, was also expelled, L’Express reported.
