Ramalingum Maistry is no longer the chairman of the Mauritius Ports Authority (MPA). He reportedly resigned from his post for reasons that have not been disclosed.

The MPA has been under fire for some time over alleged “negligence and incompetence.”

Maistry was a candidate at the 2014 general elections under the PMSD banner. He was appointed Chairman of the MPA in 2015. He joined the MSM after the PMSD quit government – and kept his job.

Following his resignation, Maistry will be replaced by Shankhnad (Sanjeev) Ghurburrun as non-executive Chairperson of the MPA for a period of two years. Ghurburrun is an ex-Labour stalwart who has reportedly “just joined” the MSM.
