Opposition parties set up economy & budget committee

Opposition parties (excluding the Labour Party) have set up an economy and budget committee and have met to review the country’s economic situation in the context of the 2021/22 budget, Defi Media reported.

The committee is expected to meet soon to analyze key economic indicators, including, unemployment, growth, inflation, debt, purchasing power, employment and balance of payments.

Afterwards, it will “establish the priorities to meet the major challenges of the recovery, especially at a time when the country is shaken by a deep crisis linked to Covid-19 and above all to the government’s disastrous management.”

The committee comprises Paul Bérenger and Reza Uteem (MMM), Xavier-Luc Duval and Robert Pallamy (PMSD), Nando Bodha and Dr Sudesh Lallchand.
