Exams underway despite warnings
Defi media

The government is being seriously criticized for ignoring appeals to postpone Grade 9 (National Certificate of Education) exams despite “an explosion of COVID-19 cases”.

Several parents told Defi media they are stressed of having to take their children out during these “dangerous times”. Former Director of Health, Dr Vasantrao Gujadhur told l’Express the “situation is more serious” than what is being told on TV.

“Forget the proposed easing of lockdown measures. They should postpone all exams,” he said last night. However, his call was turned down and some of 14,298 children were called to take up the NCE exams.

The ministry of Health and that of Education claimed all “necessary measures” were being taken so that the examinations “take place under the best conditions.”

However, photos circulating on the net and reproduced on certain media show no sanitary protocols (including social distancing) were being enforced.
