Fishing activities resume under certain conditions

Fishing and related activities are permissible in the regions affected by the MV Wakashio oil spill, including La Cambuse, Mahébourg, Bois-des-Amourettes and Trou-d’Eau-Douce, Defi reported, citing the Ministry of Fisheries.

However, fishing in the lagoons as well as the collection of baits from Pointe-Canon to Vieux-Grand-Port are maintained.

Acording to the Ministry of Fisheries, special arrangements have been made to allow fishing activities during the confinement period. Fishermen are expected to notify the nearest fishing station or National Coast Guard office before setting out on their fishing activities.
